The highly anticipated CTWC DAS is back! Since its debut in 2022, CTWC DAS has revolutionized competitive Tetris, shifting the focus from sheer speed to strategic, precision gameplay. Instead of merely pressing buttons as fast as possible, players in this tournament are rewarded for their smart and deliberate placement of each Tetromino, making every move count.

CTWC DAS 2024: Bigger and better than ever

Building on the competitive spirit of the 2023 edition, CTWC DAS 2024 is set to elevate the excitement with a Double Elimination Flat bracket. This format will intensify the competition, offering more thrilling matches and second chances for contenders. But that's not all – we're bringing back the vibrant atmosphere of the 2022 edition with a host of side activities that promise fun for everyone. Whether you're a hardcore Tetris competitor or a casual fan, CTWC DAS 2024 will be an unforgettable event, packed with action, fun and Tetris magic.

Tournament

  • Registration: Please registrate here if you want to participate in the tournament. Everyone who signs up before July 1st, will get a special welcome package with a personalized ident! But you can also spontaneously registrate on-site. Spectators don't have to registrate.
  • Participation fee: The participation fee for players is 50€. You can book your qualification slot and pay the participation fee online or on-site before the tournament. There is no participation fee for spectators.

Most important rules:

  • Playstyle All players are required to only use the DAS playstyle.
  • Level starts: No starting-level lower than 18 is allowed during qualification and the tournament.
  • Age: You must be at least 12 years old to participate or watch the tournament on-site.

  • Time slots: You have 90 minutes for qualification. The time slots on friday are: 11pm - 1:30pm, 1:45pm - 2:15pm, and 2:30pm - 4pm. You can reserve a time slot online or on-site.
  • Rules: Only starts between level 15 - 19 are allowed. Qualifying attempts will be on type A. Players are then seeded by their number of maxouts and kicker score (non-maxout score).

  • Bracket format: The format is a 48 Double Elimination flat bracket which means that everyone gets to play at least two matches. All matches are Best of 5.
  • Allowed start levels: Only level 18 starts are allowed for the matches.

  • Top 3: prize money, trophy, controller, key chain, certificate
  • Top 4 - 8: Mini trophy, certificate
  • Top 9 - 16: Medal, certificate

  • Tetris Escape Room: Step into the tricky Tetris Escape Room and put your puzzle-solving skills to the test! (Only on friday)
  • Fan Poster Station: Create your own creative fan posters and flags to cheer for your favourite players!
  • Quiz Rallye: Join our Tetris Quiz Rallye and show off your knowledge of the game!
  • Game Boy Station: Enjoy some free play at our Game Boy Station!
  • Board Game Station: Play Tetris board games along with a variety of other fun board and card games!
  • Bracket Prediction: Predict the outcome of the matches in the bracket prediction!
  • Tetris Bingo: Play Tetris Bingo during the tournament!

  • Friday and saturday: You can buy food and drinks at the XPERION bar or in the nearby restaurants (see restaurants). It is not allowed to bring your own food and drinks to the XPERION (exception for staff).
  • Sunday: You can bring your own food and drinks to the XPERION. The XPERION bar is closed.

History of CTWC DAS

History of CTWC DAS

For almost 30 years, DAS was the predominant playstyle for NES Tetris. DAS stands for Delayed Auto Shift and describes the behavior of most falling block puzzle games when the player holds down the left or right key: the game shifts the falling piece sideways, pauses, and then continues to shift it repeatedly as long as the key is held.

Classic Tetris legend Jonas Neubauer won 7 World Championships by playing DAS. However, since 2019 more playstyles such as Tapping and Rolling have emerged, dominating the scene. This shift has left many DAS players feeling sidelined and longing for fair competition. As an answer to that situation, we host the Tetris World Championship (CTWC) DAS , an event that highlights the unique and exciting aspects of DAS playstyle.

CTWC DAS 2024 will change everything!

We are building on the competitive spirit we fostered in 2023 by introducing a Double Elimination Flat bracket! Additionally, we’re bringing back the fun side activities that captured the essence of the 2022 edition. These enhancements will make CTWC DAS 2024 one of the best tournaments for both competitive and casual Tetris players and fans!

CTWC DAS 2023 took the tournament to new heights! With a great location and an exceptional broadcasting team, we succeeded in creating one of the most professional Tetris tournaments ever!
